Mini Art Class Post III- Cropping
The first series of photos are of my dog who was told that she could not have another baby. First, to clean the picture up, I cropped out her co-conspirator's legs, and my knee to make a cleaner shot. The third, even closer shot to get the "am I gonna get away with this? look on her face. FYI: Yes, she did. Cropped for composition.
The flower photo I cropped for composition. You can almost look into the center of the rose.
The next set is of an inmate in a jail dog program and the chihuahua. The picture tells a story of a bond, but in the cropped shot you can see the love and appreciation of the pair.
The second photo set of the inmate and his dog tells a similar story. There is almost a sadness in the guy's eyes. In the cropped photo you can see he is looking up almost with "puppy eyes" himself.
The picture of the home on the side of the mountain, I actually think is better balanced and has a better composition in the original. But the cropped version gives a much more precarious feeling of being out on the side of the mountain. It also emphases the vastness of the mountains.
Finally, the race car. The first cropped photo just gets ride of extra noise. The second showcases the sponsor and the driver's name. Because the ACDelco is on a slant, it give the photo movement even though the car is not.
Exercise Border Variations:
The following are links to my examples of borders. In each case, I bordered the picture in what I believed would be a complimentary color. For the first shot, I just put the border on the top and bottom of the photo.

This file as well, I put the border on just two sides.
