Mini Art Class Post III- Cropping The first series of photos are of my dog who was told that she could not have another baby.   First, to clean the picture up, I cropped out her co-conspirator's legs, and my knee to make a cleaner shot.  The third, even closer shot to get the "am I gonna get away with this?  look on her face.  FYI:  Yes, she did.  Cropped for composition.   The flower photo I cropped for composition.  You can almost look into the center of the rose.   The next set is of an inmate in a jail dog program and the chihuahua.  The picture tells a story of a bond, but in the cropped shot you can see the love and appreciation of the pair.   The second photo set of the inmate and his dog tells a similar story.  There is almost a sadness in the guy's eyes.  In the cropped photo you can see he is looking up almost with "puppy e...

Reflections on Assignments for Post I

The hardest part for me was working with the new programs.  I never had a blog before, and I hate to admit it, but I do not follow anyone else's.  The theory, reading, did not make much sense until I started working with canva.  Again, the learning curve was steep on Canva, I had a difficult time grabbing and moving things.  Also, I think I took to much time looking for the right pictures.  For example in the Christmas Toy flyer, I had to have the cars facing the "correct" way.  I think it seem to be "correct" because it causes your eyes to flow to the center car.  The posters were fun to make, I surprised that I was able to do them.  As for teaching with these tools, I anticipate going into HR someplace and possible volunteering with an incarcerated college program.  I would expect a company who has or hires outside training is going to expect a nice presentation.  This gives me confidence that I can learn this.

SanFilippo  Mini Art School: Post I-  Critique of Website Design.    I selected an attorney website because of my familiarity with them.  I find that firms focusing in certain areas of the law, e.g . municipal, often have amater looking websites.    To capture the entire first page of this website requires taking two screenshots, combining, scanning and uploading them.  I have attached the link to the website here if you wish navigate to it.   The home webpage is so long that a potential client would have to scroll down to reach the important information.   1. White Space : This page has virtually no white space.  It is visually noisy and does not provide the viewer’s eyes a place to rest. Haagen & Golombisky (p. 47). 2.  Line Placement and Flow :   The layout does not create clear lines for the eye to follow.  The large center background block has a defining ...
